Mother of Compassion came shaped by personal grief, the weight of ongoing wars, and the current state of the world. Ukrainian-inspired embroidery and primitive forms are seen throughout the work. The woman is holding a purple poppy and is surrounded by things both dead and alive. blue bird, a personal symbol used by the artist, is seen above her left eye.
