Something stirred deep within—a visceral response to the world’s unrest and transformation. In Awoken, Natasha channels this awakening through the lens of her ancestral memory. Drawing from the mysterious and ancient patterns of her Ukrainian roots, the piece emerges as both a personal reckoning and a cultural invocation.
On the left, lyrics from a Ukrainian song once sung by Natasha's mother echo through the composition—a tender homage that infuses the work with generational resonance. Her signature palette of bold, radiant color threads through the canvas, forming a vibrant tapestry that bridges contemporary abstraction with personal and collective heritage.

This self-portrait merges the precision of old masters' techniques with Natasha’s signature use of bright, unconventional color. Her face is carefully rendered, surrounded by an explosion of gestural brushstrokes and luminous gold leaf—a visual tension that reflects her ongoing dialogue between tradition and rebellion.
Though she began with academic training, Natasha has always felt compelled to break away and explore a more personal, expressive path. The flowers atop her head pay tribute to her Ukrainian heritage. A blue crow, pulling a thread in her beloved Yves Klein blue, symbolizes the fleeting nature of life. Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, it serves as a reminder that nothing lasts forever and every moment should be regarded as if it were the last.

In Firecatcher, Natasha conjures the vision of a mythic feminine figure, suspended between worlds. Her abstracted face emerges from a storm of textured color and ancestral memory, confronting the viewer with an otherworldly stillness. A black crow, perched in the upper right, hovers as a familiar of transformation—watchful, knowing, a harbinger between realms. From the woman’s forehead bursts a blood-red sunflower, collaged in vivid defiance. It blooms like a third eye, both wound and wisdom, radiating the fire of resistance. Surrounding, yellow and blue rays shoot outward in an aura of light and heat—colors of the Ukrainian flag, refracted through pain, pride, and persistence.
Interwoven into the composition are fragments of Ukrainian traditional motifs—embroidery patterns, ritual forms, and echoes of motanka-like protectresses—all anchoring the work in the cultural and spiritual inheritance of Natasha’s heritage. Firecatcher is not a portrait of a person, but of a force: the one who cradles the flame without being consumed. She catches fire—not to be destroyed, but to bear it forward.
